In episode five of the series, Harry needed some convincing to seek out his family and travel to New York City. Asta also becomes determined to find information about human Harry in New York. The alien phone number is from a pizza shop, but the owner has no idea who Asta and Harry are looking for. Harry sees a mural and a signature in his language down the block.
With a Google search, they learn Goliath is a version of Banksy. He is a famous and well-known artist the public has never seen. While in a pie shop, Harry notices the locations of the murals pinpoint stars in the night sky. One location, in particular, marks his planet’s sun.
Later in the episode, Harry and Asta visit a gallery show in the set location. Asta believes Goliath has been on Earth for over a decade. Harry loses faith, thinking Goliath has become more human than alien. The host, Violinda Darvell, tells Asta she knows Harry is an alien
The paintings seen in the show are unique and have an alien, sci-fi-fantasy element. A fan on Reddit wondered if the paintings in the gallery are by a real-life artist. The answer is yes. A deep dive on IMDb reveals the artist’s name is Joe Vaux. His Instagram and LinkTree show his elaborate and whimsical artwork.
Vaux has posted snapshots of his work used in Resident Alien Season 2 as Goliath’s art. He thanks the cast and Lea Thompson, who directed the episode in his post.
“I am beyond excited to see how my art was used in last nights @residentalien these images don’t do it justice, but I was well represented in the episode,” said Vaux.
Besides being an artist, Vaux also titles himself as a director for Family Guy. Vaux is titled as a Storyboard / Revisionist, director, and assistant director for the animated series, credited for episodes since 2005. He has directed the episodes “Big Trouble in Little Quahog,” “A Fistful of Meg,” “PeTerminator,” and “The Fatman Always Rings Twice,” to name a few.
Goliath will likely become a more central character for a few more episodes of the series. The character plays a significant role in the comic books and the character Violinda. As Harry and Asta try to learn more about him, fans will probably see more of his artwork, created by Vaux.
To keep up with Harry’s adventures and whether finding Goliath will bring him closer to home, fans will have to tune in to new episodes. Resident Alien Season 2 premieres new episodes every Wednesday at 9 p.m. Fans can tune in on the Syfy channel.
